Franklin County was established in 1784 and is located in south central Pennsylvania. Major highways running through Franklin County include Interstates 81 and 76. Routes 30 and 11 also run through the County. Franklin County attractions include Whitetail Ski Resort, Mont Alto State Park, Buchanan's Birthplace State Park, and Caledonia State Park. Shippensburg University, Wilson College, and Penn State Mont Alto are located in Franklin County.
The Franklin County Courthouse is located at 157 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania 17201. The Judges currently serving on the bench are President Judge Douglas W. Herman, Judge Angela R. Krom, Judge Shawn D. Meyers, Judge Carol L. VanHorn and Judge Richard J. Walsh. Judges Herman, VanHorn and Walsh serve on the bench for the Court of Common Pleas of Franklin County and the Court of Common Pleas of Fulton County.
