Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist CoverageShould I Purchase Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage?

What type of auto insurance and how much insurance you should purchase can be one of the  most important decisions that you can make when protecting the future for you and your loved ones. In Pennsylvania you have two very critical decisions: whether to purchase Full or Limited Tort, and; whether to carry Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage.

Simply stated, Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage provides you and your family payment for injuries caused by uninsured  and/ or underinsured motorists. Pennsylvania does not require that you purchase Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage. Choosing  to purchase the minimum motorist coverage required by Pennsylvania can devastate you and your family.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a motor vehicle death occurs every 12 minutes and an injury every 17 seconds. Not only are you at risk of injury or death; you are at risk that a person who causes your accident will not have enough insurance to pay your losses; or they may have NO insurance, at all!

Pennsylvania law requires only requires liability insurance with a limit of $15,000 per person or a limit of $30,000 per accident. This means that the MOST an insurance carrier would have to pay you or your estate is $15,000, no matter how badly you were injured, or even if you were killed in the accident. If several people were injured or killed in the same accident, the most the insurance carrier would have to pay for all claims combined would be $30,000.

Protect yourself and your loved ones – carry Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage pays you for injuries caused by an uninsured driver. Underinsured Motorist Coverage pays if the person who causes your injuries doesn’t have enough insurance.
